A Quiet Moment - Photography
A Quiet Moment explores the concept of Synesthesia. I used the light as the main element and manipulated in variety of ways to communicate the idea. I was impressed with the ability of light to refract rich colours in water onto the white wall.

My photography was developed from simply taking photograph of light refractions on the white wall. I used ink and dropped it into the water to create colour. Then, I manipulate the light to enlarge the size of the light refractions. The light refraction appeared beautifully in the dark, showing rich colours and textures.

I used a long exposure to capture the movement of the light.

I coloured the glass cups and bars with ink in various colours. Each colour evoke different atmosphere and emotions. Also, rubbing ink on glass surface made unique marks and textures.

Through taking some photographs of light refractions, I came up with an idea that these colours and movements can represent people's imagining and dreams. In order to convey the idea, I put my friends, holding glass bars in the photograph with their eyes closed in my photographs. I intended to engage the viewers, associating with their memories, dreams and imaginations. The use of vivid colours and movement evoke dream-like and spiritual feelings.
