Process & Visual Diary

Hanbok - Multi-media Installation making process

In this unit, I've worked with papers and manipulated it in many different ways. As papers have the ability to absorb a liquid well, I often wetted the papers and drop water-colour on them. Then, the water-colour gradually blended onto the papers which created natural colours. I not only coloured these papers with water-colour, also made origami flowers for costume decorations.

For skirt, I've folded the top part of the papers to make flare dress.

For top of Hanbok, I applied several techniques such as cutting, twisting, braiding, painting and sewing to create interesting three-dimensional work.

There were many techniques I could use when using paper as a medium. So, I decided to use papers and Korean traditional papers since I loved the natural colours the paper comes in.
